Step 1

First, check the shanks by blowing air through the mouthpiece and along the spiral inside the body. Ensure there is no obstruction when air passes through the mouthpiece.

Step 2

Wash the mouthpiece of the shanks and moisten your own lips to prepare for blowing.

Step 3

Press your upper and lower lips together and try to pass air between them. You will notice a vibrating airflow.

Step 4

Now, direct that airflow into the shanks. This should produce sound.

Maintain a steady airflow to produce a pleasant and consistent sound from the shanks.
